Belize Fishing Tours from Caye Caulker — Every Style of Fishing. One Island.

Flats, reef, deep sea, fly fishing, spearfishing — all within 30 minutes of the dock. Local captains who were born on these waters. Quality tackle, not tourist gear. And when you're done, we turn your catch into beach ceviche with rum punch.

WHY FISH FROM CAYE CAULKER?

Caye Caulker sits on the Belize Barrier Reef — the second-largest reef system on Earth. To the west, shallow flats stretch for miles where bonefish and permit tail in ankle-deep water. To the east, the reef drops into open Caribbean blue where wahoo, mahi-mahi, and kingfish patrol the current edges. In between, the reef itself holds snapper, grouper, barracuda, and enough lionfish to keep a spearfisher busy for a lifetime.

Most fishing destinations give you one style. You fly to the Bahamas for flats. You go to Costa Rica for offshore. You hit the Florida Keys for reef. Caye Caulker gives you all of it from a single dock at Bahia Puesta Del Sol. And because the island is small and the captains are local, you're fishing productive water within minutes of departure — not burning half your trip on a boat ride.

At Lazy Lobster, we don't run one generic "fishing tour." We run five distinct styles, each with the right boat, the right captain, and the right tackle for that specific fishery. Whether you're a bucket-list fly angler chasing your first bonefish or a family that just wants a fun morning pulling snappers off the reef, we match you to the right experience.

And when the fishing's done? Your captain fillets your catch at the dock. Take it to any restaurant on the island, or choose our catch-and-cook option: we'll make fresh ceviche from your fish and grill it on the beach with Belikin beers and rum punch. No one else on Caye Caulker does this. It's the finish that turns a good fishing day into a story you tell for years.

No Matter Which Style You Pick.

  • All fishing tackle — rods, reels, lures, bait, terminal tackle (quality gear, not tourist-grade)
  • Experienced local captain born and raised on Caye Caulker (15+ years on these waters)
  • Cooler with ice, cold drinks (water, soda, Belikin beer), and snacks
  • Life jackets and safety equipment on every boat
  • Fish cleaning and filleting at the dock after your trip
  • Catch-and-cook beach BBQ option — fresh ceviche, grilled fish, and rum punch on the beach (ask when booking)
  • Fuel for the entire trip — no “running low” turn-arounds

No hidden fuel surcharges. No tackle fees. No “park entry” charges. Every tour price is all-inclusive. You show up and fish. We handle the rest.

Three Steps. We Handle Everything Else.

Tell Us What You Want

WhatsApp us at +501 636 1459 or fill out the booking form. Tell us your date, group size, and experience level. Not sure which tour? Describe what you're looking for and we'll recommend the right one. We confirm within hours.

Show Up at the Dock

Meet us at Bahia Puesta Del Sol, Caye Caulker. Departure times vary by tour — 5:30 AM for deep sea, 6:00 AM for fly fishing, 8:00 AM for reef and spearfishing. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Bring sunscreen, hat, and polarized sunglasses. We handle everything else.

Fish. Eat. Repeat.

Spend the morning (or the full day) fishing with a local captain who knows these waters like his own living room. Return to the dock. Your captain fillets your catch on the spot. Walk it to a restaurant, or let us turn it into a beach BBQ. Either way, you eat what you caught.

Quality Tackle. Proper Boats. Captains Who Say No to Bad Weather.

Let's talk about gear. We don't use cheap, corroded, tourist-grade rods and reels. Our tackle is maintained, rinsed, and replaced regularly. Trolling rods have quality drag systems. Fly rods are properly weighted for Belize flats species. Spearfishing gear includes well-maintained Hawaiian slings with sharp tips. If you're an experienced angler and prefer to bring your own setup, we welcome it — just tell us when you book so we can accommodate.
Our boats match the fishery. Reef tours use pangas ideal for shallow reef access. Deep sea charters run on a center console with proper offshore rating, shade canopy, GPS, and twin outboards. Fly fishing trips use a poling skiff built for sight fishing on the flats. Every boat carries life jackets, first aid, VHF radio, and emergency equipment.
And here's the part that matters most: our captains won't take you out in unsafe conditions. If the weather is bad, we reschedule at no cost. If you're leaving the island and can't reschedule, we refund you in full. No argument, no fine print. You never lose money to weather with Lazy Lobster.

Your Fish. Our Beach. Rum Punch Included.

This is the part nobody else on Caye Caulker offers. After your fishing tour, your captain fillets your catch at the dock. Most operators stop there — they hand you a bag of fish and say good luck.

At Lazy Lobster, the fishing day doesn’t end at the dock. Book our catch-and-cook add-on and we take your fresh fillets straight to the beach. Within the hour, you’re eating ceviche made from the fish you caught two hours ago, seasoned with lime, habanero, onion, and cilantro. We grill the bigger fillets over coconut husks. There’s Belikin beer. There’s rum punch. There’s a sunset if you timed it right.

Your hands still smell like fish. The salt is crusted on your sunburn. And you’re eating the best seafood meal of your entire trip — because you caught it yourself. That’s not a restaurant experience. That’s a memory.

The catch-and-cook is available as an add-on to any fishing tour. Tell us when you book and we’ll have everything ready.

Reef Quality / UNESCO Experience
I've snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, cenotes in Mexico, and reefs in Thailand. The Belize Barrier Reef from Caye Caulker is right up there with any of them. The density of marine life at Hol Chan is incredible. And Lazy Lobster's small group made it feel like a private tour.

Non-Swimmers / Family Safety
My husband can't swim at all and I was worried. The guide gave him a life jacket and a pool noodle and literally stayed next to him the entire time. He still saw everything — nurse sharks, rays, turtles, the whole reef. Our 7-year-old daughter had the time of her life. This is genuinely beginner-friendly.

Full-Day Value / Goff's Caye
We did the full-day tour and it was the best money we spent in Belize. Five snorkel stops, beach lunch on Goff's Caye (which feels like a desert island), all the gear, drinks, and park fees included. I couldn't believe how much was packed into one day for that price.

FAQ

Which fishing tour should I book?

It depends on your experience and what excites you. Never fished saltwater? Start with reef fishing — constant action, beginner-friendly, and great for families. Experienced angler? Deep sea or fly fishing will challenge you. Want something completely different? Spearfishing lets you hunt your own fish on the reef. Still unsure? WhatsApp us at +501 636 1459 and describe what you want. We'll match you to the right trip.

What's included in the price?

Everything you need to fish. Rods, reels, tackle, bait, fuel, cold drinks, snacks, your captain, and fish cleaning at the dock. There are zero additional fees. The catch-and-cook beach BBQ is a small add-on — ask about pricing when you book.

Do I need experience?

Not for reef fishing or spearfishing — complete beginners are welcome. Your captain teaches you everything. For fly fishing, some casting experience helps but isn't required. For deep sea, no experience needed — your captain handles the rigging and coaching. Experienced anglers can bring their own gear and we'll accommodate your setup.

Can I keep my catch?

Yes. Your captain fillets and bags your fish at the dock. Take it to any restaurant on Caye Caulker and they'll cook it for a small fee (~$10–15 BZD). Or book our catch-and-cook option and we'll prepare it on the beach with ceviche, grilled fish, and rum punch.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We reschedule at no cost. If you can't reschedule because you're leaving the island, we refund you in full. No fine print. Your captain checks conditions before every departure and won't run if it's unsafe. You never lose money to weather with Lazy Lobster.

Are the charters private or shared?

Deep sea and fly fishing charters are always private — your group only. Reef fishing and spearfishing can be joined with other guests (max 6 per boat) or booked as a private charter for an additional fee. Every tour has a private option.

Is fishing suitable for kids?

Reef fishing is perfect for kids ages 6+. Constant bites, no long waits, and your captain is patient. Deep sea is recommended for ages 12+ due to the length (7–8 hours) and physical demands. Spearfishing requires ages 10+ and basic swimming ability. Fly fishing is best for ages 14+ due to casting technique.

What's the best month to fish in Belize?

There's great fishing year-round, but it depends on your target species. Wahoo peak November–March. Mahi run March–July. Bonefish are best November–April. Snapper and barracuda are year-round. See our species calendar above, or WhatsApp us and ask what we've been catching this week.

Why fish from Caye Caulker instead of Ambergris Caye or Belize City?

Proximity to productive water. Caye Caulker sits on the Belize Barrier Reef with world-class flats, reef, and offshore fishing all within 30 minutes. It's also a smaller island with lower prices, fewer crowds, and captains who fish for a living — not captains who drive boats for tourists. You get a more authentic, more productive fishing day here.
